International SA Indie Pop star and actor IKE MORIZ (Cosmopolitan hot talent) has returned from London where he recorded parts of his 3rd studio album entitled “ALL AROUND THE WORLD”. The hot new 12 track CD includes a remix of Ike’s hit ‘STILL’ produced by hip London producer Max Bravo in collaboration with George Michael’s producer Steve Kent. ‘The Darkness’ session guitarist Jim Barnes has written the opening song for this album.

The 1st single to hit the airwaves in 2008 will be the powerful & rebellious freedom anthem "All Around the World". Ike’s songs will also appear in the hot new international TV series ‘Cooked’.

Further single releases are planned for late 2008: Firstly the bowie-esque "Killing Games" & at the end of the year, the beautifully elegant, 'Xmassy' love-ballad-duet "STARRY NIGHT". It features the gifted 5FM DJ & top SA TV celebrity ELANA AFRIKA. Further singles are: the cheeky, Reggae-like "I'll be your man" and the spacey 'Pink-Floydian' "All Your Heroes Are Dead". Other songs include the deeply dramatic, philosophical & angst driven "Whereof one cannot speak"; the tragic Buddhism inspired love poem "Always You (Samsara)"; the romantic and edgy "Watching the Sun"; the optimistic 'feel-good' "Anything You Want" as well as the dark & beautifully deranged “Bite The Dog”.

Ike Moriz explores a wide range of different emotions and stylistic elements while staying true to his original energetic brand of colourful, melodic, catchy & enigmatic British Pop/Rock reflecting the life of an inspired modern artist living at the southernmost point of Africa.

Ike has recently moved back from the UK where he has received wide acclaim for his 2 albums ‘Mirrors & Shade’ & ‘Play Me’. His original songs were played in 17 countries worldwide and Ike has appeared in many major feature films like ‘Alfie’, ‘Shanghai Knights’ and ‘Love Actually’ as well as UK TV series ‘Eastenders’, ‘Family Affairs’ and ‘The Bill’ et al. Ike is sponsored by Trigger Clothing, Billionaire and Cape City Volkswagen.

Rock legend David Bowie himself voted Ike’s songs as top song of the month on his web site! ‘South Africa’s own indie pop idol’ (The Citizen, Cape Argus) studied music and acting in South Africa, Germany and Holland after a jet-setting childhood. The singer, actor, producer and songwriter spent 5 years in London, fronting rock bands, performing in musicals and running his own independent label Mosquito Records London, before returning to his favorite country SA at the end of 2005. PLAY ME has taken radio charts by storm while his music videos have rocked DSTV channel MK89 with FHM super models Lisa-Marie Schneider and Lilian Ndlovu in the lead.

In the US, Ike was described as “Bowie without the glam meets Oasis without the self-importance teamed with UK chart alternative without the boredom”. For further information visit www.ikemoriz.com.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
IKE MORIZ: PLAY ME

This 8 track rock album was recorded in London right after Ike Moriz`s return from the ‘Mirrors and Shade tour’ in April 2005. This is Ike’s second independent studio album on his label Mosquito Records London and like on his previous UK releases, all songs were written, produced and released by the artist himself.

PLAY ME is packed with a new drive and energy that springs from Ike’s exposure to many different countries, life on the road and, most importantly, moving back to South Africa after years in London. Songs like the rhythmic and dramatic ‘I feel Real’ and the heavy yet laid back ‘Light is Dark’ and ‘Evacuate Me’ reflects the artist’s intense need for change.

The fiery opening song ‘Hey, hey-hey, hey’ pulls the listener right into the world of Ike Moriz. It is followed by the extremely hooky title track ‘Play Me’. Bearing in mind that all songs are also released digitally (itunes etc.), Ike has chosen to treat most of the tracks as if they were Single releases: they are equally strong, impressive and emotive. However, the title track will be the first single to hit the shelves in South Africa in October/November this year. An exciting video of this track was shot in Cape Town this month involving top SA director Johan Nel of ‘Fokofpolisiekar’ fame and SA top model Lisa-Marie Schneider.

Expect no less than excellent, unique, brand new proudly South African music with a very international sound.

Ike Moriz has gained international acclaim since starting to work as a solo artist with George Michael’s and Marc Almond’s producer S. Kent in London in 2002/2003. However, he has been writing and producing his own material for much longer than that, starting in 1995 shortly before studying music in SA, Germany and Holland. He has been described as “Bowie without the glam meets Oasis without the self-importance teamed with UK chart “alternative” without the boredom.” His songs have been aired on the radio + TV in 17 countries, and he has just finished the “Mirrors and Shade tour 2004/05” promoting his debut album in the UK, Holland, Germany and South Africa. The previous singles have reached high radio chart positions in the UK, Holland and SA, and he has gained more and more support from an international fan base over the past 3 years.

Ike has also enjoyed working on movie sets, doing small parts in international movies eg. Look out for him as a barman in ‘Alfie’, a pianist in ‘Bridget Jones 2’ and a reporter and friend of the bride in ‘Love actually’.

Ike Moriz has returned to the road, bringing "PLAY ME TOUR" to an audience in South Africa. By using the words "PLAY ME" for both his new album, single and tour, Ike is taking a cynical look at the egotistical, money & fame driven pop culture of this century. You can keep up to date at www.ikemoriz.com

Tracklist:

1. Hey, hey-hey, hey
2. Play me ( first radio single )
3. I feel real
4. Every time the sun

8. The sad songs

Play me & Light is Dark (double A-side CD Single + video of "Mirrors and Shade").

What a romantic & persuasive enigma.

Releasing the title track of his upcoming 2nd album as the latest single is a bit like eating the main course before the starter, but hey, rock stars are supposed to be controversial, and you’ll get a remix & the video clip of his amazing debut album title track for extra helpings!

Ike Moriz's stunning and vital new (double A-side) single will be released independently on Ike's Mosquito Records London in October 2005. It is the vivid & powerful self expression of a young South African artist, driven both by great optimism and intense new millennia angst, combining the British cool with his SA routes. Reflecting life away from SA among 11 million people in London throughout his work:

"I wanted to create something powerful with lots of texture & intensity. Stripping all my ideas down to their core, something strong emerged, that couldn't be stopped in the process and had a paradox life of its own. I could feel how it prevailed against the empty materialism & plastic music of our time! In many senses I see this CD and the upcoming album as a new dawn and a return to the routes; quite literally so, as I will introduce it back home in SA for the 1st time in person as well and I am looking forward to that enormously!"

In this regard, the brand new songs are full of life and death, love and hate, light and darkness. They seem to mirror the artist's deeply emotional world of contrast. Listening to his songs, it almost feels as if Moriz and the listener are melting as one: He leads us into his world reflecting our own. What a joyride! What a tour!

Ike Moriz has gained international acclaim since starting to work as a solo artist with George Michael's and Marc Almond's producer S. Kent in 2002/2003. However, he has been writing and producing his own material for much longer than that, starting in 1995 shortly before studying music in SA, Germany and Holland. His songs have been aired on the radio + TV in 17 countries, and he has just finished the ?Mirrors and Shade tour 2004/05? promoting his debut album in the UK, Holland, Germany and South Africa. The previous singles have reached high radio chart positions in the UK, Holland and SA, and he has gained more and more support from an international fan base over the past 2.5 years.

Starting in July 2005, Moriz will return to the road, bringing "PLAY ME TOUR" to an audience in many countries over six months. By using the words "PLAY ME" for both his new album, single and tour, Ike is taking a cynical look at the egotistical, money & fame driven pop culture of this century. His songs have already been played on the radio and TV in 17 countries

world-wide. They were voted “Song of the Week” at davidbowie.com twice

(Still / You Could). Now they have found their place on his UK debut album:

IKE MORIZ - MIRRORS AND SHADE.

The 11 track album was recorded over the past few months in London

with the highly acclaimed band, that has played the London circuit with

Ike in the past; including long-time MORIZ musicians guitarist Jim Barnes,

drummer Alan van Kleef and vocalist Rike Duser.

The spirited and addictive title song Mirrors and Shade (UK No1, NL No.2),

like concentrated 'Moriz elixir' filled with urgency and passion, leaves one

wanting more. Right from track one, it is apparent, that this is highly original &

skilful self-expression and not another hollow & senseless attempt to gain

fame & fortune a la 'Pop Idol'.

We uncover a great diversity of musical face: from the atmospheric and

enigmatic Still, the intense Another Day and the accoustic, dark

and theatrical Flame Blue to the heavy and grave indie anthem Visionary

and the romantic Britpop tribute Drowning (in London Town)

Of course, we also find the radio hits Fall into the sun (SA no1) and

"You could (thrill me, kiss me, kill me,...)" (NL no5)!

Based in London since 1999, Ike is of South African / German descent. His

new style has emerged from his diverse musical experiences, fronting

bands in London, Cape Town, Rotterdam and Hamburg.

The full track listing is as follows:

(1)     Another Day

(2)     Mirrors and Shade - radio mix

(3)     Fall into the sun

(4)     Flame Blue

(5)     You Could (thrill me, kiss me, kill me, ...) - radio mix

(6)     Still

(7)     Visionary - radio mix

(8)     Drowning (in London town) - radio mix

(9)     Our Gold

(10)  Fake Fatale

(11) Another Day - reprise

Since releasing his SA NO1 indie Pop Hit Single FALL INTO THE SUN at the

end of 2002, singer, songwriter & performer Ike Moriz has created an exciting

new, colorful E.P.

It has already been played worldwide and reached No.5 in the NL Top10

(Halo Radio) and stayed at No.1 for four weeks in the UK Top10 (Matchbox

Radio 24)! It was recently (18.3.03) voted SONG OF THE WEEK by

David Bowie at davidbowie.com!

The fresh and bright title song YOU COULD (thrill me, kiss me, kill me, ...) is

followed by the heavy and grave indie anthem VISIONARY and the romantic

Britpop tribute DROWNING (in London Town) recorded at Tin Pan Alley Studios

& Motion Studios, London.

Involving his new relations from working with George Michael & Toby Bourke

producer Steve Kent on Ike's last single, the same musicians accompanied Ike

on this melodious journey (versatile: Jim Barnes (electric guitar) & Alan van Kleef  (drums, percussion & mix).

As enigmatic and hooky as ever, the three songs on this CD are theatrical

pop tales displaying the multicolored image of Ike's musical vision.

Based in London since 1999, Ike is of South African/German origin. His new

style has emerged from his diverse musical experiences, fronting bands in

London, Cape Town, Rotterdam and Hamburg, performing his own material.

Since breaking away last December from West London rock band Stunt Double,

lead singer Ike Moriz has been cultivating an infectious indie pop sound,

reflecting his own personal taste.

The result is his debut single as a solo performer that is already being played

on the radio worldwide, and it has reached No1 at MFM South Africa!

A three track E.P, Fall Into The Sun was recorded at Tin Pan Alley studios

with Steve Kent, who has previously worked with George Michael. Drawn to

Ike's surprising mix of enigmatic lyrics and catchy melodies, Steve

strengthened this paradox by adding deceptively simple guitar hooks.

Based in London since 1999, Ike is of South African/German descent.

His new style has emerged from his diverse musical experiences, fronting

bands in Cape Town, Rotterdam and Hamburg, usually performing

his own material.
